Lives and Times of the Bible, Book II represents years of research effort. The book, a collection of lessons the author has taught in Sunday school, started only as a collection of ideas. Over time, the number of relevant lessons grew to the number included in Book II. The subject matter is both broad and, in places, challenging. Often, church folk tend to read the bible as a series of isolated instances where, at times, only the more obvious connections are seen between instances. The content of this book represents a conscious effort to compare and contrast the more subtle instances divergent in both time and space.. Some of the individuals discussed in this book will be recognized as profoundly good while others will be seen as struggling both with themselves and with God. There has been no attempt to assume either a doctrinal or theological position leaving the reader free to enjoy, instead, a freewheeling discussion of church history. Hopefully the bible and its’ people will come alive for the reader. Perhaps the reader will recognize that God deals with folk today in a manner consistent with the way He has dealt with folk throughout the Bible. Hopefully, the reader will come away from this book with both a deeper understanding of scripture and an appreciation of biblical folk as human individuals each attempting to communicate with God amidst their own cultural and spiritual struggles.
